What’s different about building in the foothills
Steep lots and driveways: slope affects foundation design, excavation cost and whether fire trucks can reach the house. We review grade and access with you before you buy.
Wells and septic: many Evergreen lots have no public water or sewer. We arrange well testing, soils testing and septic planning during lot selection.
Wildfire rules: new homes in Jefferson County’s Wildland Urban Interface areas must meet the county’s Wildfire Resiliency Code, updated in 2026, covering fire-resistant materials, emergency-vehicle access and defensible space. We build this into the design and budget from day one.
What a foothills custom home costs
Most custom homes we build run about $350 to $550 per square foot for construction, before land. Design and finish choices drive much of that range, and lot conditions like slope, well depth, septic type and driveway length are the biggest swing factors. We give you a full estimated build cost during design, before you sign a contract.
